Premiere Screening of Into The Woods

Taking over my blog again! Here I am tapping away on my laptop again after a very busy working weekend. I am rather amazed that I actually managed to drag myself to catch Into The Woods! *pats on my own shoulder*

All movie pictures are taken from Nuffnang's blog

When Johnny Depp is part of the cast, I'll be there!

First up, a shout out to Nuffnang for the awesome movie! It was more than a movie this time! To compensate for a change of venue, we got free popcorn and movie vouchers. Alright Nufffies, it's impossible to stay angry like that.

BACK TO THE MOVIE! Actually had a really high expectations before the premiere since it was nominated for Golden Globes for Best Motion Picture and a few other categories. Personally I'll give it a ★★★★★★☆☆☆ (7/10)!

This movie, honestly is really well made. It's a movie with several typical fairy tales mashed up into one big story. It's like ohh I have never considered how Cinderella can crossover to Rapunzel or how Jack and the Beanstalk have anything to do with The Little Red Riding Hood. It's definitely gave a wow moment. Of course, as expected from a PG 13 movie, the stories are mostly from the Grimm Brother's version instead of Disney's.

BUT!
Ever had that feeling that some movies should have ended sooner than it is?
Well Into The Woods gave me that feeling. It's like huh.. it was so perfect so why is it suddenly so absurd? I mean it's okay if the story line went on to something more interesting but it just went to this crazy plot where everything just went so so so so so so ridiculous. A prince randomly decided to stray from his princess to kiss the Baker's wife (Emily Blunt)? Just... Whyyy? It feels like a random twist was added for the sake of "originality". It doesn't make sense at all. That ruined the movie for me.

Honestly, if it wasn't for Meryl Streep's wonderful performance, the movie would really suck. She played the ugly witch so perfectly! Very much contradicts her usual classy look but she still nailed it!

But the make up a bit fail cause a lot of emphasis was on her eyes.
Guess it's too hard to make her ugly!

Of course, the rest of the cast performed really well too. It's a musical so they would have to sing and dance while acting. One of the reason why I like musical is how amazing are those actors to convey emotions through singing. By the way, Johnny Depp sang sooooo wonderfully I wish he had a larger role <3

Aside from the witch they are the main star of the movie.
Most of the absurd stuff happened to them by the way

Cinderella's evil trio family.

I think some people may not enjoy the movie because there's A LOT A LOT of singing. I usually don't like movie with songs but the songs are actually very good. Just a bit too much la! Then again it's a musical so DUHHH singing is a given. Just sit back and enjoy the la~ la~ la~

Overall, I would say sure go and watch it but it won't a particularly memorable one. Perhaps it's just my lack of interest in musical *shrugs*

Okay, it's my bed time now so goodnight world! And remember to catch Into The Woods!

Bye bye
