Do you Dare to Halloween Escape?

Greetings world~

Is it me but October is like the IT month!

Well there's Octoberfest which is like an annual family event to me. Then there are many public holidays like Hari Raya Haji and Deepvali. As (soon-to-be) part of  the Malaysian work force, public holidays are like shining and glowing dates on the calender. Of course, there's also the much anticipated event to round off the IT month..
HALLOWEEN
I always love the idea of Halloween as a kid. What's there to not love? Dressing up and getting FREE candies from your neighbour like WOW! Who wouldn't want that? But it seems like it's never a Malaysian culture so it's okay.. *watches Disney Halloween special*. As an adult, Halloween became bunny ears and alcohol so.. *shrugs* not my kind of thing (boring ohhhh me).

Silver lining moment when 2 of my favorite things decided to join forces and become...
Malaysia's VERY FIRST Halloween Escape!

Poster of Pure Evil! More info at OWG.

Guess who jumped up and down when Elie invited me for the Opening night? NOT ME. I handled it maturely and checked the dates and venue before saying 'yes'. Haha WHAT A LIE!

Of course I'm EXCITED! Who wouldn't be? Imagine the usual escape room but this time, with a Halloween theme.

Extremely kiasu and reached before 7:30pm! It was raining so I guess even without the water rides we're really in WET world!!! (Geddit Geddit? No? Okay..)

Anyway, since I am rather unfamiliar with Shah Alam I started my journey early so I can reach on time. But if you have any sort of GPS app, then just by key in "Wet World Shah Alam" and it's actually a rather breezy journey. I can verify that even WITH rain, there's no jam or flood! There's a decent number of parking spaces as well just in case you're those people who are paranoid about the fuss to get a spot.

Arrived and saw the Huge Halloween Escape Wet World entrance. So unnecessarily excited when I signed in as a Blogger! But I still spent some time admiring the small spooky decos they put on!

Blood and skeletons everywhere!

What is fun without some rules. This is where I learn I'll get into trouble if I punched any of the ghosts.

I'll be honest. I am MORTIFIED of ghosts. I screamed when I saw those zombies wandering around outside Sunway Lagoon Scream Park. I also somehow convinced myself to line up for Scream Park and I.. FOUGHT IT LIKE A BOSS  ran out at the last minute.. Very embarrassing! I know! So I kept pumping myself up before going in so that I don't lau sai when I walk in.

My OOTD and a very fat arm!

Arm candy is a present by my adorable friends

Keep thinking to myself that I will start to make a lau sai face when any sort of crazy scary stuff appear so I took a lot of pictures before going in! hehe.

So happy the moment I step into Wet World. Saw a pool with those water rides. So tempted to jump in for real but unfortunately, for safety reasons, the water parks all closed. But they do have buff lifeguards standing guard just in case anyone fell in.

I will come here some day IN THE MORNING!

Found an advantage of coming early! Made it to the opening water and mist show! It's actually more like an opening act to 'greet' us and if the water show doesn't end, we won't be able to enter the main attractions because...

of her...
Looking very hipster and dead

The water show started and it's a projection image of 'the one' that we're supposed to escape from in the escape room. It's not scary since it's made of water but her words will really chill you to the bones. Don't miss this if you're going there!

'You think you can escape me?'

'Well we shall see'

The amount of effort they put in making the place Halloween-ish is unbelievable. As I mentioned just now, even their entrance is swarmed with blood and skeletons. Everything looks like they either wanna warn you or kill you; enhancing the overall spooky feeling. Also, their props are CRAZILY WELL DONE! Looks so real! Escape Room is responsible for all the decorations and I believe if you have been to Escape Room, you know how realistic their props are.

Guess what scared me?

Ancient mummy! I didn't dare to go close because well.. there's no guarantee that the thing wouldn't open its eyes right?

Die die also must pose nicely. Pose for 3 seconds and jumped off the platform!

IN MY DEFENSE, IT WAS QUITE LIFELIKE!

Yes. Death! Great! Brrr

Look at this! Limbs ALL OVER THE PLACE! Actually it's all over Wet World! Even on the water slides!

Look at me! Aren't I a badass?! Honestly, I did not notice the head hanging there because it was pretty dark. Now when I noticed it... AHHHHHHHH

These decorations are actually the keh-leh-feh (extras) to the main creepers of the night!

Nope

Okay HELL NOOOO

I distinctively told it that I WILL PUNCH IF YOU COME ANY CLOSER

I think they thought I was the crazy one for screaming while pressing the shutter. Their make up is so annoyingly real. The worst part is..

They REALLY GLARE AT YOU OMGGGG!
I was quite worried will their eyeballs pop out!

I think she can tell I'm genuinely afraid so she turned hipster for me! How nice of you of white face zombie sister!

I am serious about the glaring at you part. Their eyes are like super big and they just stare you down as if they're judging your soul! And you can't help but glare back and feel the chills down your spine. Even brave people like Steven got that geli feeling when they're staring at us. LIKE REALLY REALLY STARE!
They brought the whole park to life by being so realistically dead! *ba-dum-tss*
And I honestly think they're very professional. They walk like they're limping the whole night. They never smiled or spoke. They just.. stare.

Not only that. Watch out.. They might appear near you when you least expect it. They don't make any sound when they walk. Try not to scream too loud in their faces I guess (guilty...).

The nurse one scares me the most because I think it can sense me feeling scared so she deliberately come really close to me. I think she hates me for telling her I'll punch her...

All the scary things aside, the park has great facilities to make sure you enjoy the park fully. There's lockers for the ladies who prefer to not hold their handbags, shower area, toilet, food stalls etc. So it is unlikely that you'll leave the park halfway.

Lockers

Food stall just in case your tummy got hungry

Speaking of food, I was being courageous (because there's limbs and zombies everywhere wtf) and explored the entire park for food. Haven't eaten anything since brunch and I was so famished. Isn't it funny how I know what to eat in Subang and Klang but not in Shah Alam? Initially, I found a very normal food stall selling Hawaiian Chicken and Fried Chicken. Decided to walk around to see is there more alternatives and found the stall above selling... non conventional food.

Blood pack, eyeballs spaghetti and finger sausages anyone?

The uncle selling the food is very nice and he keep reassuring me that it tastes really good but I really had a bola kecut (balls shrinking) moment and figure I should just buy normal looking food instead.

But what I didn't know is that the organizers are so sweet and awesome. They prepared tables for the VIPs, medias and bloggers so we can have some inside scope to the whole idea behind the Halloween Escape. Guess what they served us?

So honored actually. I feel so speeeecial

My dinner. Here's a closer look to my eyeballs spaghetti and finger sausages.

The psychological barrier needed to be overcomed to eat this

Blood packs! Elie and Steven is so fixated over looking for the right blood group so that there won't be any complications after the "transfusion" HAHAHA

Star of the night! These pumpkin buns are so yummy and adorable!
Thank you food for looking like food!

Looks aside, the food actually tastes like well.. normal food duh! It's just the psychological barrier of thinking that it's gross. But if you ever came here, I dare you to try! Be like me.. drink blood, eat fingers and chew on eyeballs! MUAHAHAHAH
IT IS TIME TO INTRODUCE THE MAIN EVENT OF THE NIGHT!
After dinner, we were ushered to the Escape Room area and OHMYGOSH WHY IS THERE SO MANY BRAVE PEOPLE? Look at the line!

The lines also get longer as the night gets later. And when you walk anywhere near the area you can hear people SCREAMING! No joke SCREAMING! I keep hearing different guys and girls screaming and banging the wall as they try to make their way out. I have never heard screaming in the ordinary Escape room so it must be some serious sh*t in there! But I think Malaysians really hyped out for a good scare so if zombie apocalypse ever happen here, I think most of us will do just fine.

Fail selfie before going in

I think the most fail part of the park is that it's not camera friendly but then again I doubt a brightly lit park will scare anyone.

More rules and regulations

This is it. The moment of truth...

Behind this face of evil lies the maze of Halloween Escape

The Escape Room staff are extremely nice and polite. I think my aura of fear is radiating so greatly that they can feel me shivering. My goosebumps were up all the time since we decided to go in. So I mentioned I chicken out at the very last minute in the Sunway Lagoon Haunted House right? SOMEONE GIVE ME A MEDAL OF HONOR BECAUSE I, STEPHANIE CHENG...
COURAGEOUSLY RAN OUT... AGAIN!
I am probably the laughing stock of the night but still.. I really cannot get over my fears. I have very good reason please! I have very good memory and I am very imaginative. Also, I learned Teakwando before so I will injure someone! I swear! *big pile of excuses*

But I did walked in a little bit and I saw a white figure with a really loud screaming voice and I know for sure I will have a cardiac arrest wtf. But the rest went in and here's Mr Editor's experience:
It's honestly not THAT scary la. The room itself is divided into two stages and you have to make it through the first stage to get to the second stage. All while having ghosts running around in there. Sounds okay right?
According to the staff, very few people can actually make it out. With all the stress and fears, I guess not many can really fire up 100% of their brain. And the good news is you can go again and again and again until you're satisfied. For only RM 38! Usually a 45 minutes Escape Room also cost around the same price right? SO WORTHY! *kiamsiap Chinese*

When 3 of them came out, they told me that luckily I didn't went in because FOR SURE I can't take it. I will take their words for it.

Managed to have a little chat with Jason and Victor, creators of the Escape Room (Forgot to take pictures with them) and they told me that the whole reason why they decided to do a Halloween Escape is because many Escape Room challengers find the still room experience INSUFFICIENT to satisfy their need for an adrenaline pumping experience (you sicko!).

These people want more scary! More fear! They want a lau sai experience basically and thus Halloween Escape was created with extra servings of scary and fear.

Time for some Q&A! Had a small chat with Steven from Wet World to know more about Halloween Escape! Here we goooo~

Q: Why Halloween Escape? Where did the idea come from?
A: Wet World Shah Alam is a very family oriented theme park and we want to target a new width of customers especially the youngster to come to the park. With Escape Room, we hope to attract them here and create a new width of customers to Wet World. We invested a lot of time in this, almost 3 months so we hope it'll turn out well.

Q: The decorations are so well done and exquisite. Are they removed so the 'morning' customers won't see them?
A: No. The decorations will be up the entire month of October.

Q: What if I saw the Escape Room in the morning/ weekdays and I am willing to pay to go in. Can I?
A: Nope. There won't be any special effects or ghosts in the morning/ weekdays. So it would basically be nothing there.

Q: I saw children running around wanting to go in so are they allowed in? I mean even adults get frightened!
A: They can but the thing is, they would have to be accompanied by their parents and their parents must make sure the kids can handle it. We will give them some warning but it is ultimately the parent's decisions.

Q: What if I really get a cardiac arrest in there. Is there any emergency plan?
A: Well of course! We have first aid and clinic. We have a course of action in case of emergency. But we already put up signs that this attraction is not suitable for pregnant ladies or anyone with a weak heart so hopefully everything will go well.

Q: We understand there's a lot of competitor like Sunway and Genting doing the Halloween thing. So what distinguishes you from them?
A: First of all, we have the whole Escape Room idea which is first in Malaysia and it has never been done before. It will be difficult to beat giants like Sunway and Genting but our idea is special and we hope to be able to attract a new range of customers.

Q: Will normal operation proceed as usual for October?
A: Yes our park will operate as usual.

Q: Will Halloween Escape last beyond October?
A: It will depend on the response and so far the response is really good.

Okay.. If you're really chicken like me or you need a little warm up, there's also 4 mini escape rooms besides the main escape room.

4 different themes!

This is like a smaller version of the usual Escape Room and you didn't have to solve 20 million clues. Maybe around 3 or 4 because you're only given 10 minutes for all the room EXCEPT The Ring which you'll be given 15 minutes. I FINALLY FOUND SOME COURAGE and went in with them to The Ring. The awkward moment when a camera crew came in and I was froze there because there's a little something in there..... along with sound effects. Lau sai face caught on camera! Great!

The 4 challenges are NOT EASY because since 7:30pm to about 11pm only 3 teams made it out/ escaped. You can line up again and again for this too or you can take the easy way out as ask them for the solution.

Since it's rather time consuming, the line moves quite slowly and the wait is so painful! FRET NOT! They thought of everything for us. There's all the wonderful zombies there walking around spooking people. Thank you nurse zombie for making me cry while lining up..zz.

Made friends with the zombie sisters because they're quite nice.
I told them I'm scared and they really walk away! haha

But I think to them, I just make a really nice slave to massage for them

Oh by the way, the zombies dances too. Zombies nowadays have to be multi-talented too! It's a tough world out there. Saw them dancing at first at the dinner and I was conveniently there when they performed again. These zombies can move yo!

Also got a fried chicken while enjoying the zombies WERK IT

Crawl zombies crawl!

Good job zombies! Now shoo..

Besides that, there's water show again from time to time. Probably for people who missed the opening. I guess the waiting can be a pain in the behind but given there's quite a few things to look at, time does fly by!

With slight difference from the opening act. I think the opening act one is creepier

AND THAT! Kinda concluded my night! I spent almost 4 hours in fright land and I honestly had a lot of fun experiencing new stuff wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy outside my comfort zone. Gonna end this post soon but before that..

If you can't beat them...

Join them

Flat! Flat! Flat!

Angry blogger reporting for duty!

Have anyone wonder why plastic surgeons are earning a bomb and cosmetic surgery is getting more and more innovative by day?
Botox! Implants! Suction!
It is becoming more and more common for people to go under the knife (and maybe even knives). I've read many articles about plastic surgery. And more often than not they say they want a change! They wanna look gorgeous. I understand what they mean. Because sadly in our life, there are many many many STUPID ANNOYING HYPOCRITES that feel the need put in their opinion about your appearance or body.
You think you're pretty? Pfft  your nose is like the Roman Colosseum.
Sexy? Nope babe your boobs are tiny!
Hot? Dude have you seen your flabby arms?
Yes those are the basic things I hear in my everyday life since puberty decided to hit and fail simultaneously!
YES PUBERTY WAS AN ASS TO ME.
Now why do I call these people hypocrites? These people clearly don't have a mirror or eyesight to look at themselves because they are NO BETTER THAN I AM! If I ever return the same criticism to them, they'll get offended.
So apparently it's okay for you to point out my flaws but when I point out yours, then you're all about "embracing natural beauty? Superiority bias to the max.
I really don't understand why some people would say harsh statements like that. Do I really need to get liposuction when I only weigh 45 kg? Do I really need to get plastic surgery or implants for my apparently small boobs or apparently flabby arms?

Oh please do not tell me that the comments about gaining weights are not annoying! Do you know sometimes I feel so unhealthy because I am so thin? Some clothes look like crap on me? I eat 2 big bowls of rice for dinner every night and I hardly get pass 45 kg. Why? I don't know! But I did gain a freaking tummy which brought me more insults.
Interesting how I get comments like "you should lose some weight" and "you should gain some weight" at the same time!
Honestly I am not exactly the person with the highest self esteem! I might not show it but your words does affect me. I just don't show it because if I do, I will be confirming your opinion of me. And I absolutely refuse to give you that satisfaction!

The comments started since puberty! I wasn't exactly the prettiest or the one with a hot body. Plus I have a really slender figure so automatically, I am an easy target.
Puberty is where you start to wonder what is happening with your body. Hair growing in so many different places, monthly bleeding cycles, chest growing two lumps of fats, suddenly needing to wear bras.
With so much going on already, no one needs additional comments about how less than perfect they are. These comments only lowered my self esteeem (I still have a low self esteem) and make me feel less like a woman.

Of course moving on from high school, I did improve my appearance through the use of a lot a lot of chemicals. Not plastic surgery but with like make up and hair products and I think I look better now but NO! THAT'S NOT ENOUGH FOR YOU.

Changes over the years! Still not great but at least I look more feminine

I still got no boobs, no abs, no ass, no muscles, no face basically I'm FLAT FLAT FLAT but guess what. Since then, I have learnt to let your nasty comments slide. Say whatever you want, I am not the master of your mouth, but I am the master of mine. I won't swoop down to your level and criticise you back. No, the present me is happy with myself. I've come to realise that I need not make anyone happy but myself. So the next time I hear you spouting yet another nasty comment, I will simply
TAKE MY EXTRA SKINNY MIDDLE FINGER AND SHOVE IT IN YOUR FACE!
Okay! See you next time~

Escape Zone Kota Damansara

Dear all,

I am writing today to inform everyone about this awesome place called.... *drum rolls*

Tadddadaaaa!

Okay you are wrong if you assume it is the Escape Room with a typo error. Cause it's really not. But it's of similar concept though. Choose a room you wanna die in and go in there and DIE!

I kid I kid. I am a real scaredy cat so every adventure into the Escape Zone or Escape Room is a challenge to me.

So yeah, I am actually very attracted to the idea of going into a room full of clues and you have to solve all the clues in order to get out. I did went for Escape Room a few times. Lost several times and in the CSI room in Setiawalk, I just stood in a corner and panicked. The eerie music with the screaming lady in the background totally drove me NUTS!

So I avoided the whole escape idea for a bit (Actually no it was just like 2 weeks) until my cousin introduced me to Escape Zone. It is their opening week so every room is only RM 20 per person! Kiamsiap Chinese moment.. Again. RM 20 is like I CANNOT MISS THIS! I MUST GO~ MY KIAMSIAP NEEDS ME!

Here's the normal price list. Cheaper than Escape Room!

Adults: RM 25 (1 - 6pm), RM 35 (6pm onwards, weekends and public holidays)

Students & Below 18: RM 25

Kids below 120cm: FREE

There's 3 themes to choose from (For now. With more rooms coming soon!):

I was in number 76 getting my hair done when they are choosing the rooms. I was very very keen on classroom because honestly, it doesn't look eerie! In my defense, I was still traumatized by the previous CSI experience.

When we reach there, we were told that classroom is a brightly lighted room and is also the easiest level, followed by puppet house and asylum as the hardest.

I sometimes short circuit and have YOLO moment. So true enough, I somehow agreed to attempt the puppet house. Look at the poster above, how does that not creep you out?! I was holding on to my friend and shrieking here and there for my dear life. I'm sorry if any of my team mates' ear drum got damaged by my high pitch screaming.

Nevertheless, the room was very very VERY well designed. I was surprised cause for once the clues actually make sense and wasn't super impossible to figure out. PLUS it is 60 mins per game! I got extra 15mins to clear my Wannabe Detective Conan head. The room's structure, eerie level and the number of things to solve is just right. And guess what...
WE WON!
It's my first winning after like going for 3 or 4 times. I was so happy since we are one of the first few people who manage to get through!

And because of the free game giveaways to commemorate their first month of opening, I managed to score a free Asylum game as well! Again, the experience in Asylum is really different compared to my previous experiences in Escape Room. Like teamwork was never challenged this greatly! I must not reveal anything here so that the suspense can linger on! Hehehehe. Oh do check out their FB page for more giveaways aye?

Escape Zone is very different from Escape Room. For one, their staff are really friendly and they genuinely put your needs first/want you to enjoy the rooms. The vibe is different as well because the waiting area outside is playing nice and soothing music. I also won't mind standing outside because it's totally a friendly environment. I love it!

Oh I also love the location. Kota Damansara! Plus its only 2 streets away from Burger King and mamak! Supper after using too much brain anyone?

Don't be turned off by the ground floor entrance though! Escape Zone is actually located on the 4th floor and looks much much better up there.

I would say it's rates ★★☆ (9/10) and is a must visit place in KD!

Okay I shall go roll and continue being unemployed now!

See ya!
