Hey everyone! Hope the equinox is not treating you too badly. The weather is so crazy hot I think it only make sense if we just cook our dinner over the car's rooftop to save gas omg!
Anyway, sorry but this post is not about battling the heat but it's a little foodie review about this new place I went to recently called..
The Fat Fish
Actually saw someone on posting about this place on Dayre and the pictures looked so so so tempting so I made a reservation a few days before (super kiasu I know). The pictures ain't lying though cause The Fat Fish is AMAZING!
Located in Shoplex Mont Kiara, The Fat Fish doesn't have a huge sign board or fancy entrance. Baskin Robbins next to 1 Mont Kiara is the best landmark I could find. The moment you pass 1 Mont Kiara and Baskin Robbins, take the next right turn to Shoplex Mont Kiara. The Fat Fish is right in front of you when you pass the parking ticket booth.
The shop is pretty small and with very limited seats so I really suggest you to book a place because I've seen people walking in but leaving because all the seats are either taken up or reserved.
Is that a synonym for good food? Why yes.. Yes it is
The menu
The menu is simple and doesn't really change. Whatever they have, it's written on this board. No matter where you're seated, this is their one and only food menu so it's wise to take a picture of the menu and slowly look through them using your phone. Or if you fancy standing, that's an option too! Lol
The design of the shop is simple and clean, with the preparation counter and cashier on the right..
Oysters on display near the preparation counter
Some master slicing skills going on hehe
And... a huge fridge on the left with all the fresh ingredients they have!
The huge fridge
From the fridge, you can actually pick the food you wanted and just tell the staff right there. There is a wide range of food there like various types of sashimi, steak, lamb and even alcohol like red and white wine for those who enjoy a sip or two.
Salmon sashimi!
*heart in eyes*
Other types of raw fishes
Steak! This one clearly have to be cooked la huh!
But one thing is or sure.. Because their main ingredients are seafood, the shop inside smells like the tummy of a whale! If you're someone who can't take the fishy smell or having some morning sickness, fret not because you can always sit outside with great ventilation. There's fans right above our heads so it's not hot at all! Trust me, if I didn't get agitated with the heat, chances are, you wouldn't feel a thing lol
Time for the food!
THIS WAS WHY WE CAME AND THIS IS WHY I'M GOING BACK THERE!!
After having this, I can never look at fresh salmons the same way again. This was so freakishly fresh! It's so bouncy and chewy! It's absolutely to die for! Honestly, after going to the Fat Fish, I feel the difference in quality when I eat salmon sashimi somewhere else. This has ruined normal chain restaurant salmon for me solely because this was so fresh!
It isn't very pricey as well with 11 cuts priced at RM 21.
Oyster
Again, the freshness prevails. The moment you put it in your mouth and you know.. it's different. In a good way. One oyster is about RM 10 which is decent if you ask me.
Bara Chirashi
A girl gotta need her carbs yo! I love the tuna cubes! So yummy! And hello my kind of rice~ don't know why japanese rice is significantly yummier than ordinary rice. Bara Chirashi for RM 20
Aglio Olio with Crab Meat
For those who don't have a palatte for raw food, they do have cooked food like this Aglio Olio. It's a little spicy but it's good! This is around RM 28
To show you I'm not bluffing about it being good, look at all the plates all squeaky clean!
The dinner came to about RM 86 which I think it's pretty decent with the freshness! Trust me! YOU HAVE TO GO THERE!!
