You're probably thinking what else is there to write about? I have already covered the entire vacation.
You see, I saved the best for last. This is a food-gasm post showing you all the dishes I ate in The Sound of Music!
Night 1
Plain bread
Literally. This bread had no taste. Super good with butter though!
Cheese bread
Bread with various seeds
Classic Caesar Salad
Tastes exactly like Caesar Salad.
Toasted Farro and Lamb Broth
Normal soup. Didn't taste any lamb in it. But nonetheless, had a deep flavour.
Escargots Bourguignonne
Snails drenched in garlic-herb butter. Pretty good. Also, pretty little. Need more!
Spinach Dip with Tortilla Chips
I thought that the chips were the main. But apparently not. Its Spinach Dip with Tortilla Chips. Not Tortilla Chips with Spinach Dip!
Soft Shell Tortillas
Looks like a meat dish but its actually vegetarian. Everything here is made from vegetables. Somewhat like the Chinese vegetarian pork.
Stir-fried Chicken in Lemon Sauce
Somehow the chicken is only the few pieces near the top middle. It has potatoes on each side.
Slow-roasted Prime Rib
This was good. Large, juicy cut of beef. Yumz!
Miso Pesto Brushed Atlantic Salmon
Salmon was awesome. As if it was freshly caught! The green sauce brushed on it was not. It tastes like a variation of mint sauce. Doesn't go well with the salmon at all.
Lemon sherbet Ice cream
OMG SUPER GOOD. SO REFRESHING AFTER A MEAL.
Blueberry-Peach Crumble
The crumble was warm. Contrasts well with the vanilla ice cream on top.
BBB Creme Brulee
Don't ask me what BBB stands for. It's written like that on the menu. But if I had to guess, Big Banana Brulee?
Night 2
From the top: Cheese, plain, seeds and sesame breads
Fun fact. The plural of bread for one type of bread is bread. The plural for many types of bread is breads.
Jalapeño-Potato Soup
The creamy potato taste is enhanced with the spiciness from the Jalapeño; making each bite better than the last
Slow-Baked Salmon Fillet
Looks like they took salmon from Windjammer. This is apparently a starter dish!
Royal Shimp Cocktail
Shrimps were super fresh, super good. The spicy-sweet royal sauce not to my liking.
Shrimp Gyoza
Imagine your normal gyoza. Now imagine shrimps in it. Tadaa.
Seafood Spaghetti with Lemon Chardonnay reduction
Seafood is fresh so its awesome
Reduction is a cooking method where the sauce is thickened by boiling it
Brie and Asparagus Quiche
Everything on top was not nice due to the wine dressing
Everything below that is awesome
Turkey Piccata
So-so only. Turkey a bit dry. I liked the boiled vegetables here.
Grilled NY Strip Steak
Absolute perfection! One serving is not enough!
you see spinach hidden under the steak! Sly move, guys.
Drunken Kahlua Cake
Not really drunken. More like A Tinge of Kahlua Cake
Low-Fat Peach Melba
According to our waiter, this is popular with Australians. For some reason.
Chocolate Sensation
Tastes like normal chocolate cake
Orange Mousse
Ho, my first time eating mousse. Interesting texture. Or the lack thereof. Its so smooth.
Night 3
Crab and Egg Soup
Crab used was just crabstick. Cheh! A so-so dish
Minestrone Soup
Your average minestrone soup
Antipasti
Wow. Everything here is pickled. Even the rock melon slice.
Garlic Tiger Shrimp
Shrimps awesome. Wilted spinach not so much. Even a person like me who loves to eat vegetables stays away from wilted spinach.
Rosemary Lamb Shank
Another perfect dish. Lamb meat easily separated from bone. So tender and juicy.
Broiled Fillet of Atlantic Salmon
Not very outstanding. But we probably just had too much salmon already by now
Teriyaki Chicken Leg
Good dish overall. Fried rice unexpectedly spicy.
Sugar-Free Strawberries Romanoff
The interesting part is the brown coconut crisps.
Orange Sherbet Ice Cream
They ran out of lemon. But orange is quite refreshing as well.
Note to self: need to find out what this was.
Night 4
Royal Shrimp Cocktail
This time, without royal sauce. Much much better.
Bay Scallop Gratin
Scallop version of the escargot dish
New England Clam Chowder
This is pretty creamy. Even the clams was blended in.
Classic Caesar Salad
Linguini with Pomodoro Sauce
For some reason, it turned out to be spagetti. lol
Carved Fillet of Beef Tenderloin
Good. Bed of mashed potatoes was quite creamy too.
This time with hidden asparagus! So sneaky!
Roasted Honey Glazed Duck
Didn't like this very much. The duck meat was pretty hard to chew.
Preserved Bean Curd Sea Bass
First time eating sea bass that tastes like tofu
Sky High Lemon Meringue Pie
Super good. Meringue part super fluffy
Sugar-Free Chocolate Pot De Creme
Erm. It's a bowl of melted chocolate. If you like chocolate, you will love this!
Double Strawberry Cheesecake
Pretty heavy dessert. Like the polar opposite of the lemon meringue pie.
Bittersweet Chocolate Souffle
Tastes like a chocolate muffin. The only difference is the additional chocolate sauce on top and a lot more sugar!
Did I make your salivary glands work extra time? Sorry not sorry.
Well this marks the end of my vacation series! I hope you enjoyed it!
