This is. THE VOICE

Hello again pillow talkers!

Today's post is about another one of my addictions; the award winning reality show, The Voice!

The Voice is basically just another singing competition, but with a twist. During the audition process, contestants will perform behind the judges. Yup, that's right. Behind. Called Blind Auditions, the judges only judge the contestants based on their voice. If a judge is impressed, then he/she will turn their chair around to face the contestant and to signify that they would coach that contestant. I love this concept because it totally eliminates the chances of the judges having biased opinions from the contestant's looks, skin colour, styles and so on. Season 5 saw the return of the original judges.

From the top: Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green.

The live show portion for season 5 has been going on for 3 weeks now and the top 8 list is out!  It's starting to get really intense and emotional as we identify with the contestants and cheer for each of them. Thank goodness that my two favourite contestants, Will Champlin and James Wolpert are still in the competition!

Will on the left, James on the right. Both equally captivating!

Will Champlin's way of putting himself in every song he sings is vavavoom! No one is able to infuse their personality into the song as much as him. When he sang Secret and When I Was Your Man, I did not even think of the original songs sung by One Republic and Bruno Mars. All that filled my mind was his, and only his rendition. So much talent!

James Wolpert on the other hand dresses like a 1970s geek, but sings really well. If this show did not introduce Blind Auditions, James may not have passed them. Two of James' performances that stood out to me were Radioactive by Imagine Dragons and Without You by Badfinger.

But I'm probably a bit biased because they're both in Team *drum roll please* Adam! Yes, James and Will are both coached by that dreamy Maroon 5 lead singer, Adam Levine! I have a theory that Adam shaves more often and becomes hunkier as the season progresses. Peoples Magazine's sexiest man alive indeed!

Caroline Pennell from Team Cee Lo is also quite good. For a seventeen year old, she gives off a bit of a creepy, overly mature feeling. Kind of like that overly attached girlfriend meme. Nonetheless, this is a singing competition; not a age or beauty contest. Voice-wise, Caroline is indeed blessed with a beautiful and soothing voice. Her voice makes me want to cuddle under a blanket with a hot mug of hot chocolate!

At the end of the day, I still like Christina the best. I know she isn't one of the contestants, but getting to hear her sing is definitely a good thing. She seems to be getting thinner and thinner though with each episode. Also, in last week's episode, Christina looked so tense and stiff. It could be the lighting, or her make up. Or could it be botox? E-news should buzz on this!

Well that's my personal opinion about The Voice! At first glance, it looks like your average singing competition but there are many innovative and unexpected twists that sets it apart. The Voice is on Astro AXN every Sunday at 8pm. Warning though, its quite addictive.

Till we meet again~♡
