Being A Tourist in SS2

Hi hi!!

Okay I had a relatively productive weekend! Done everything but updating my blog la! So lazy nowadays. I really blame Dayre cause I've been updating there on a daily basis and it feels like I don't know what to update on my blog anymore.. meh! This time round, I refrained from updating my tourist adventure there so I can update it here. Haha. Why I have this feeling I am the only one struggling with Dayre and blog.

Anyway, started my day early, looking all tourist-tourist and try to not look too shitty.

OOTD

Everyone seems to be excited over the wall art in Penang. Finally we get our very own murals in PJ too! No need to drive 4 hours to see wall arts dy woohoo! Head off to ss2 around 2pm and my gosh the sun! It was gloomy around 12pm but I think the sun is excited to see me so it came out the moment I started my journey. lol

Wall art alley map

Followed this guide to check out the wall arts. The distance from one mural to another isn't really that far. It's definitely walking distance. If you park near the #1 spot, after going through all the murals, you're actually back to where you parked! I was quite dreaded to walk back all the way to get back to the car but it is a very good day to learn that ss2 is actually a big circle. hehe

FIRST STOP

Obligatory tourist shot! I take this tourist business seriously k!

This one is really my favorite. The girl looked so calmed. I think it would be nicer at night when the lantern lit up, It's so beautiful isn't it?

There's a description of the mural for each one. At least you don't have to guess what's the meaning behind each wall art. This piece is called "Forgiveness". Each piece is actually "Malaysia" themed. Some drawings are not so obvious what it is about so you gotta read the sign to know more.

SECOND STOP
Panorama shoot seems like the only way to capture the full mural

This singing in the rain is the first one I spotted while circling in the car. It is quite visible at the same row as Lorong Seratus Tahun and Rekindle.

I don't really like this mural though...

It is after all right next to a restaurant. So there is like some... oily looking and puke textured "stuff" in the drain. Which you can see right behind my legs. Didn't dare to go up close la cause it's super yucky! I don't really wanna contribute some actual puke to the drain lol. Took some pictures and quickly left to the third one. haha.

THIRD STOP
This reminds me of the Bola Kampung comic

The first 3 murals are the closest to each other so this is like the minimum walking time. This mural is right next to a freshly made sugarcane juice. Perfect rest stop for everyone under the blazing hot sun!

And behold, the genius planning by whoever designed the location of the mural. They keep picking walls next to parking spaces. Totally blocked off part of the mural la!! At the same time, the street opposite with an empty wall which doesn't allow any cars to park doesn't have any murals on them! Wtf nonsense is this?! Quite unfortunate cause most of my pictures got blocked by cars boo.

FOURTH STOP
Spot more cars blocking the wall art

The most Malaysian kid game! Lat Tali Lat Tali Lat Tamplom! YOU LOSTTT! I never could get the rules of this game right. Not sure the odd one out wins or losses. So far no one can actually explained to me so I guess the rules are open for everyone!

FIFTH STOP
Food in ss2! Think the main selling point here is the ss2's famous food court

Just in case anyone misses my face... however unlikely! lol

SIXTH STOP
Spot more cars!

I actually find this picture very meaningful. The man is wearing a Chinese mask and scarf, Indian bracelet and the Malay Sarung! The best "Malaysian" themed mural in my honest opinion. We might have different culture, we might look different, but together we are Malaysians.

Admiring art work/ Posing as if I'm admiring it lol

But seriously, I was so amazed at how they can paint on brick walls so nicely. Confirm a lot of effort. *hats off*

SEVENTH STOP

Spot more.. ah you get the point!

I kinda like the pain dripping down the wall. Wondering did they throw like balloons filled with paints on the wall to create the effect! But if they did, it looks so fun! :D I wanna throw too heheheh

The kids in school uniform definitely reminded me my primary school days. So simple and easy. The good ol' days.

Yeap think everyone agree this will bring up some sweet childhood memories

Oh this is one of the nicer stop too cause it's right next to a dessert shop! After a long and sweaty adventure, time for some mango shaved ice!

Yummy!

Hi~

EIGHTH STOP
This is one my favorite too! and LARGEST

It covers the entire shop lot area so it's a huge piece of art work!

So cute right? The 1960s barber shop style

This tourist feeling so hot so she took off her jacket. Lol. Sweating like a pig

Being so happy here cause the mirror is actually a legit mirror!! Hey ma can you see my hand from the mirror?!

NINTH AND LAST STOP
This one ended up pretty potong steam cause it's quite small! hahahhaha

It's like the last stop but why so small leh! haha. But the details are so awesome. How to paint until so symmetrical? Can admire this for hours!

Okay the ninth is the very last stop and the walk lasted about an hour. Minus all the stopping and eating time of course! It is quite fun to walk around PJ as if you're a tourist. It's like PJ you've never seen before! It's a very special perspective cause you walk pass those places all the time to hunt for food and this is the 1st time you're looking at it as a tourist. I think everyone should take an hour of their weekend to just admire PJ in a different way!

But watch out though! There's cars driving in and out the alleys so while taking pictures, be careful of oncoming vehicles!

Alright! Finally my time for lunch! Try to update again next week!

Buh bye~
